There are a number of routes to undertaking a successful renewable energy development, and our approach is always tailored to the specific site. However, our projects will tend to follow the tried and tested model described below.
-
Initial Screening
During the initial screening process we identify and assess the fundamental constraints and opportunities at a variety of possible sites. Once a site is selected to progress, we will request that landowners enter into an Exclusivity Agreement with us before moving on to the next stage of the process.
-
Detailed Feasibility Analysis
We undertake a more detailed analysis of site-specific constraints, engage with key stakeholders and complete a Town and Country Planning appraisal. We then also commission individual detailed studies as required to understand further any particular risks associated with the project. At the end of this stage we enter into a Heads of Terms agreement for the subsequent lease of the land.
-
Planning Consent
At this stage, we undertake all the detailed studies and assessments needed to support a planning submission for the project and to prepare for its delivery on the ground. This process will generally be initiated by submission of Screening and Scoping Requests to the relevant Local Planning Authority. The responses to these requests, and subsequent liaison with the Local Planning Authority and other key stakeholders, will set the agenda for our planning submission, whether or not the project requires Environmental Impact Assessment.
-
Construct and Operate
Once planning consent has been granted, we undertake the negotiation and procurement of grid connection services and switchgear. We will specify, procure, install and commission the appropriate wind turbine/s, ensuring that minimal disruption is caused to the day to day operations of the site, and that all onsite Health and Safety policies are adhered to.
During its operational life, we maintain and operate the wind farm to the highest possible levels achievable, and encourage regular site meetings with the relevant site representatives throughout our period of operation.
-
Decommission
At the end of the development's operational life we will decommission and remove turbine/s and associated foundations down to the pre-determined depth. All electrical infrastructure will be removed or be made safe, and the site will be reinstated to its original condition.
